I’m Becoming a Climate Skeptic

It took me a long time to get here because, honestly, I didn't want to get here. I didn't want to be one of those conspiracy theorists that said, "climate change is not real."

Well, here I am.

I didn't want to be here because I knew that being here would make my life more difficult. It is a whole lot easier not to be the one that gets triggered every time someone brings up how climate change is the reason for every problem. I fought hard to go with that flow, but my research has convinced me otherwise.

Being a bitcoiner has made me more susceptible to being contrarian by default or thinking everything is a scam. By scam, I mean that the government is exaggerating to scare me. If they can scare me, they can save me. If they make me believe they can save me, I will let them do whatever they want.

I believed the climate change narrative for so long for many reasons, but the largest would be the manipulative line, "97% of scientists agree."

Now, whenever I hear numbers that staggering, it is usually a tell that it is bullshit. It made me feel that I would be dumb to go against the scientists. My need to be 'smart' made me not question. They made me think that the most competent people on the subject felt a certain way, so I have to too.

Based on my research and seeking information that isn't just on the mainstream media, I realized that it is very much the case that not all scientists agree. Ironically, it is the opposite. Some of the most educated and 'qualified' scholars in this area disagree ardently with the climate crisis narrative. Many scholars who wrote the book on climate science disagree strongly with it.

If you think I am crazy, I have a proposal. I dare anyone to go into this series on climate change by Jordan Peterson and come out not being skeptical. It is a fantastic series that puts too much data on the table from too many brilliant people. Amazingly smart and credentialed in the exact way you would like someone to pose an argument.

This playlist is not by any means all that changed my mind. This road has been a long one. However, this is the most comprehensive list I have found in one place that can make anyone with an open mind curious to go down the rabbit hole.

If you have listened to this with an open mind, are not skeptical, and are still confident of your beliefs, please refer me to better arguments you feel debunk the claim. I am all for being convinced otherwise. That is the point of this, after all.

Knowledge is power I suppose.
